Description
A limited edition of just five of these accurate and handsome looking Roman Empire maps will be sold. You are buying just the physical map only at this price and not the gold finished wooden scroll work along with the hole punch work and leather tie downs seen on both the top and bottom of some pictures. For sale here only is an ancient style looking map of the Roman Empire written in Latin and showing the Provinces of the Roman Empire as well as the Mare Nostrum. The Details: I have just finished work on this enlarged authentic looking map of the Roman Empire to use in either a class room as a teaching tool or in a Roman command tent for reenactors or to even decorate your own Roman 'Man Cave' situated in the Roman Room of every bodies home. About 10 years ago I used one made out of a small boar skin having only black ink for coloring to outline the Roman provinces. That map was small as mentioned as it was done on a boar skin and used only black ink. Cleaned boar skins cost between 0 to 0 and that is before any other work, research, materials and time is invested into it. It also takes some artistic skill as well. I have attached a picture at the end of me using the small boars skin at The 'Imperial Roman Exhibition' event that was in a Houston, Texas Museum many in 2007. I am the one pointing at the map. I thought even back then that there has to be a better way. Well that better way has come. I have put together and developed a more realistic looking and imitation large boar skin on a tough canvas material and then put a better looking and better researched map on it. I am attaching a picture of that new ancient style Roman Empire map with an American dollar bill next to it for you to better see and understand the large and impressive size of this map. The map as I said is on a faux (fake) leather animal skin. The canvas material is cut to look like an animals hide or I can leave it uncut so that you can fold it back over the edges of an art majors large canvas frame. The material is very strong and durable and rolls up easily into a tube. It can also be folded but that is not recommended. This new map is almost twice as big as the earlier one and has more written detail done on it as well. It also has nice coloring but not over the top to keep it ancient looking. I am going to be making three of these for sale. This picture one is of the first one. The price for the map by itself is . I have only cut one of the three in the shape of an animal skin. Just let me know which way you prefer it. Once I cut it, you will not be able to fit it correctly over a large art store frame.
In addition to the purchase of the map is the following if your interested. A really cool idea that have been done on one prototype is to hole punch five holes going along the top and to the corners and then hole punch five more holes along the bottom and in the corners. I will then make two very large wooden Roman style wooden scroll poles with four decorated end terminals. These will then be painted gold. After that I will tie onto the map holes 10 short separate pieces of 12 inch long leather strips through each of the top ten holes and then tie those loose ends afterwards onto the wooden scroll pole to secure it into place and then do the same to the bottom five holes. This will not only help to give the whole piece some nice added weight and stability but will look really awesome as well in my opinion. The price to have all of this extra work done on top of everything else will be an extra more. I do everything in order to custom make the map to your liking. Let me know if this sounds like something that you would like either before or after the purchase. It will definitely be made to impress and actually help to frame the map even better. Each of the two rods are a little over four feet long themselves.
" I have about 200 new custom made and designed items I will put up for sale, as well as my sword and sandal movie prop collection, my military miniature figure collection painted by Russian masters, my World War II collection, my ancient coin and ancient military artifact collection and other various military "militaria" items".
These will all be listed under the Terry Nix Collection III in the near future, so please keep checking back or you will miss that one of a kind item.
